TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN COMMUNITY:
Welcome to the new academic year at the University of Michigan! I am pleased to share with you a special look at our campus in this year’s Welcome Back Video.
This fall, we are welcoming thousands of new students and about 540 new faculty members. U-M’s legacy of academic excellence and societal impact stretches back more than two centuries, constantly renewing itself and achieving new heights because of the talented individuals we recruit to our campus. Thank you all for choosing to be part of our spectacular community.
Throughout the academic year, many events at U-M will provide opportunities to get involved and learn about major societal issues. We’ll be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Environmental Teach-In that helped lead to the first Earth Day, as well as continuing the important work of our Commission on Carbon Neutrality. Our new Trotter Multicultural Center begins its first full year of bringing our community together in an inclusive environment. Many events on campus will examine some of the most pressing issues we face – issues that we have always aspired to solve at our great university – including talks by leading diplomats and foreign policy experts through our new Weiser Diplomacy Center.
I wish all of you a wonderful academic year, and I hope to see you on campus! Until then, I invite you to watch our new welcome video. I hope you enjoy it, and as always, Go Blue!
