1. Office Hours for Students

    January 16, 2015

I very much enjoyed speaking with students during my first semester on campus.

The Fireside Chats, tours of student facilities, campus social events, and individual and group meetings gave me opportunities to hear the remarkable stories of students from Michigan and all over the world and helped me begin to appreciate the student experience at the University of Michigan. Students have shared what they like about our campus, as well as what they feel we need to improve.

I want to keep these conversations going. This semester, in addition to my regular Fireside Chats, I am adding office hours that are devoted to meeting with U-M students.

I’ve held office hours throughout my career as a faculty member so students could come and see me about their classes and other concerns. As a dean and provost at my previous campuses, I continued to meet with students individually and in groups small and large.

My Office Hours for Students page has all the details and the online form for signing up. Students can sign up for times for the remainder of the semester, beginning with Jan. 21.

I look forward to getting to know more of Michgan’s outstanding students, hearing their concerns and understanding their viewpoints on our university.
