To All Members of the Campus Community,

It is an honor to welcome you to a new academic year at the University of Michigan, with a light-hearted look at our amazing campus and its students, faculty and staff.

Our community is a vibrant and dynamic place. U-M researchers launch a new company every 20 days, our health system sees more than 5,700 patients every day, and our museums, galleries and performance venues come alive day and night.
Our 60,000+ students come from every U.S. state and more than 100 countries throughout the world. They are Fulbright Scholars, entrepreneurs, All Americans and Olympians.

We are also welcoming more than 400 new faculty members and new deans in 6 of our 19 schools and colleges. I have had the pleasure of seeing our students, faculty and staff in action, working together to improve U-M and take on big societal challenges.

I look forward to continuing to work with you as we pursue an even brighter future for the University of Michigan. My student office hours and fireside chats will continue, as will my meetings with faculty, staff, alumni and community groups.
